Since Hnit“s establishment, Hnit has worked on traditional engineering design, i.e. structural and civil design, design of HVAC and supply systems. Some of the recent projects include residential housing, industrial factories and facilities, nursing homes, road bridges, swimming pools, water diversions (HVAC systems) and the design of sewerage and piping systems in Reykjavik and neighbouring municipalities.

Hnit has furthermore been involved in Urrišafoss hydropower plant in lower Thjorsa river, both the reconnaissance study and project planning report. The proposed hydropower plant is up to 150 MV and 900 GWh/year.

Hnit has operated in Russia, designing swimming pool, district heating, salmon hatcheries, bathhouse, hotel and 3MW electric power station in Chukotka, Eastern Siberia. In addition Hnit has designed heating plants harnessing hot springs in the area.

Hnit“s employees have a broad experience in carrying out various projects in connection with building construction and maintenance, among others construction and cost supervision, work and schedule planning and estimates of the labour and materials required.
